OHCHR Minorities Fellowship Programme in Geneva, Switzerland. OHCHR's most extensive training initiative for human rights and minority rights defenders who are members of national or ethnic, religious, or linguistic minorities was introduced in 2005 with the launch of the Minorities Fellowship initiative (MFP). The OHCHR Minorities Fellowship Programme is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

The fellows should graduate from the MFP with a comprehensive understanding of the UN system, as well as the international human rights treaties and mechanisms that pertain specifically to minorities. It should be within the reach of fellows to further train their communities or organisations.

Concerning the Fellowship Programme

Additionally, the programme gives human rights advocates who defend and advance the rights of minorities the chance to broaden the pool of partners with whom they might collaborate. They achieve this by developing a strategic engagement with many partners, including relevant Geneva-based NGOs, the United Nations, and activists from around the world.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates from national, ethnic, linguistic, or religious minority groups who are ready to train others when they return to their communities are eligible to apply for the Minorities Fellowship Programme. In order to support the protection and advancement of human and minority rights, the programme seeks to impart knowledge and skills in international human rights. The candidate needs to be put forth and endorsed by their community or organisation, which should be made up of members of minority groups, have a strong constituency, and represent minority interests.

Application Procedure
The selection of successful candidates is based on human rights situation, gender, and regional balance by an OHCHR staff advisory panel. Only selected applicants will be contacted due to the volume of applications.
