Mandela Washington Fellowship has opened applications for young people who are interested in being application readers for the 2024/25 cohort applications for the Mandela Washington Fellowship application process!

All interested applicants are requested to submit the required form to be considered for this role in the 2025 Fellowship.

For starters, the Mandela Washington Fellowship is a prestigious program administered by the United States Department of State, funded by the United States Government, and managed by IREX. It serves as the flagship initiative of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). In the summer of 2025, the Fellowship will host approximately 700 young leaders from 49 sub-Saharan African nations in the United States for academic instruction and leadership development. This program fosters collaborative opportunities for Fellows and United States citizens to drive economic prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa and the United States.

It is important to not that this is not the application portal for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship and if you are interested in applying for the Fellowship, please wait for that application to open later this year.

IREX has also said that applicants should be aware that alumni of the 2024 Fellowship cohort and applicants for the 2025 cohort are ineligible to serve as evaluators.
